Sunday Bird-(Dog) Blogging
Today we feature Bird-(Dog) Blogging from our favorite Democrat Abroad, Kathy Flake. Many of you will remember the always-in-motion Kathy from her hard work and creativity on behalf of the Howard Dean and Miles Nelson primary campaigns. She was nonstop. Now she's living in London for a few years with her family and has started her own blog, What Do I Know? (Hey, she knows alot!) Drop by and say hi and you can see more pictures of Bailey the Wonder Dog, as well as savor Kathy's daily musings. I get at least one laugh out of her blog every day. And we all need all we can get of that these days, don't we?
By the way, even though Bailey isn't a bird, he's surely acting like one in these photos, showing a real attraction for trees and perching. Peep peep. And with all that green, green moss on the tree, we know this is NOT the Land of Enchantment....
Bailey demonstrates her Awesome Tree Climbing Ability!
Hi,
As promised, I'm sending you photos for Sunday Bird Blogging--doggy style!
I got some shots of Bailey demonstrating her Awesome Tree Climbing Ability--the first one's a little blurry, she was moving pretty fast there! I'd put peanuts out for squirrels (trying to entice them to the yard so she can be amused!) but she decided to eat the peanuts herself. The squirrels, having seen this display, no longer taunt her from the branches.
One of the things I love about Britain--everyone loves dogs. That British reserve melts when confronted with a warm nose and chocolate drop eyes!
Cheers,
Kathy Flake

Sunday Bird Blogging
(Click photo for larger version.)
This Sunday's edition of Bird Blogging once again features Bosco the peach-faced lovebird. Since we're all feeling a little down these days with the junta just getting installed for another term of Orwellian doublespeak, I thought I'd let Bosco demonstrate what spunk in the face of adversity is all about. We can do it! We have the power! We can take our country back! Note that he has his foot up, ready to march into the fray once again. Onward liberal activists!
Bosco may be equipped with only a bird brain, but he don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.
P.S. You, too, can have your bird (or dog or cat or gerbil or whatever pet you have) featured on Sunday Bird Blogging. Just email me your photo with a short description.

Sunday Bird Bloggin'
(Click image to get larger version.)
Today we're featuring our three parakeets, Whitey, Ginger and Queenie. Whitey is the albino female on the far left. Ginger is the yellow lutino female and Queenie, believe it or not, is the green male with the big face.
We just went through a bout of almost breeding Whitey and Queenie, but ended the experiment when Ginger got incredibly aggressive about the nesting box we had installed. We put her in a separate cage for a day, but she was so morose that she refused to even eat. So we removed the nesting box and they returned to their original bickering but mostly friendly selves, all three together, happy, joyous and free.
We had originally named Queenie as "Fred," since he was always dancing along the perches with Ginger. Somehow, though, he has since taken on the persona of Queenie and we can't argue with that.
Yes, they ARE Howard Dean supporters as you can see from the sign behind the cage. And since they are incredibly energetic activists, it's very difficult to get them to stand still for a photo. This photo was taken on the day Dean formally announced his run for DNC Chair so they were particularly chatty and kept bopping around the cage like true Deaniacs. It shows.

Sunday Bird Blogging
In the blogosphere tradition of Friday Cat Blogging, here at DFNM we've instituted Sunday Bird Blogging. We ARE the Land of Enchantment, so we couldn't just adopt the blog tradition without putting our own spin on it. So we have Sunday Bird Blogging, which last week introduced Bosco the peach-faced lovebird. Here he is again in one of his favorite spots, atop my rapidly greying, uncombed morning hair. I guess he likes chaos and unkempt, rebellious things as much as any progressive Democrat. (Click on photo for larger image.)
If you'd like a picture of your bird (or fish or reptile or hamster or, yes, even your cat or dog) to appear on this blog on an upcoming Sunday, email me a photo. And write a few sentences to tell us about your pet. Not only will your pet gain political notoriety nationwide and across the Atlantic, but you'll help me fill a blogspot on Sundays, when I'd much rather be relaxing than focusing on politics. Gracias.

Sunday Bird Blogging
Our new lovebird named Bosco, with one of his favorite toys. He's a peachfaced lovebird and is now about 5 or 6 months old. His face and head will get more peach-colored as he matures. He wanted me to tell you that he's a LIBERAL lovebird and is working for progressive change among the avian demographic.
Here he is in his cage, where he has lots of toys. You can click on the photos to get larger images.
