O'Neill Receives Another Key Endorsement
Gail Chasey endorses Bill O’Neill in Senate District 13
State Representative Gail Chasey has endorsed State Representative Bill O’Neill in his campaign to replace Senator Dede Feldman, who is retiring from her seat in Senate District 13.
“To me, Bill O’Neill represents a profile in courage.” Chasey said. “He represented a very conservative House district, and yet he refused to play it safe. For two terms he volunteered to serve the House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee – even though it meant that he would be casting votes on the most controversial issues that came before the legislature.
“Representative O’Neill proudly voted to kill bills that threatened reproductive freedom and the civil rights of same sex couples. He stood up for people, not corporations, by voting against bills that would suppress voter turnout or marginalize our immigrant community. Bill is a man of honor and integrity. It’s tough to lose Senator Dede Feldman, but Senate District 13 won’t be shortchanged with Bill O’Neill.”
Chasey has represented her central Albuquerque House District since 1997, and chairs the House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee.
“I am honored by Representative Chasey’s endorsement,” O’Neill said. “Representative Chasey has been a leader on progressive issues in the legislature, and I look forward to fighting with her for New Mexico families in coming years.”
