7/15: Rep. Harry Teague to Host NM Veterans Telephone Town Hall
Teague meets with Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki
On Thursday, July 15th, Congressman Harry Teague (NM-02) will host a Telephone Town Hall for veterans across southern New Mexico to discuss his Veterans Bill of Rights proposal. The event will allow veterans to share their ideas and feedback on Teague’s new “Veterans Bill of Rights.” He will also discuss the new guidelines announced by the Department of Veterans Affairs that will improve access to PTSD treatment for veterans. Participants will have the opportunity ask questions and learn more about Teague’s work to honor and support New Mexico's Veterans.
"Our veterans have made great sacrifices to protect our freedoms and in return deserve the highest respect, support and services that we can offer. That’s why I’m working on this Veterans Bill of Rights, to ensure that Congress is doing all it can to keep the promises we made to our veterans,” said Harry Teague, New Mexico’s only representative on the U.S. House Veterans Affairs Committee, in a statement released today. “I worked for and earned a seat on the Veterans' Affairs Committee because addressing the concerns and needs of our nation’s veterans is a top priority for me. This Tele-Town Hall is another way for me to stay in touch with the constituents in the 2nd Congressional District and make sure that the issues that matter most to veterans are included in their Bill of Rights.”
Harry Teague encourages any of his constituents who are interested in veteran’s issues to contact his office at 1-888-9-TEAGUE to get details on how to participate in the Tele-Town Hall. Media interested in participating in the call should email or call Kara Kelber at kara.kelber@mail.house.gov or (202) 225-2365 to get details on how to participate in the call.
Teague’s veterans Telephone Town Hall is part of a series of discussions across southern New Mexico to help shape his new “Veterans Bill of Rights.” The meetings, comprised of local veterans and veterans’ service organization representatives, have focused on further developing the Veterans Bill of Rights, which Teague intends for Congress to use as a guide as it seeks to improve benefits and services for veterans. Teague unveiled a draft proposal of the legislation during his address to the Joint Session of the New Mexico Veterans of Foreign Wars Convention in Albuquerque.
