Dem State Rep. Elias Barela Seizes Momentum in Valencia County's District 8 Primary

State Rep. Elias Barela, who has a challenger in the June 1 Democratic primary in District 8, seized the momentum in his campaign for re-election today when he announced the endorsements of nine high-profile organizations that play an important role in the Valencia County community. Quite an achievement.

Representative Barela is a retired military officer with over 20 years in the Army and National Guard, as well as a local attorney in Valencia County. He has served in the Legislature since 2007, where he has worked hard to represent working families and pushed New Mexico toward a more open and ethical State Government.

Today’s endorsements include:

• National Education Association – New Mexico
• American Federation of Teachers – New Mexico
• Conservation Voters New Mexico
• New Mexico Progressive Action
• New Mexico Building & Construction Trades Council
• Ironworkers

• IBEW

Commenting on the endorsements, Rep. Barela said:
