Two Events This Week on Alternative Proposals for Valles Caldera

From the Sierra Club Central New Mexico Group: As many of you may know, there have recently been some proposals to privatize and commercialize portions of our precious and unique Valles Caldera. We want to alert you to two events you can attend this coming week that will address alternative proposals for managing the Valles Caldera National Preserve to serve more conservationist goals:

This Monday, June 1st, at 6:30 PM, Caldera Action is hosting a meeting of environmental activists to discuss proposed legislation to address deficiencies in the original VCNP statute. This will be at REI in Albuquerque, at 1550 Mercantile NE (just west of I-25 off Montaño).

This Wednesday, June 3rd, at 7:00 PM, the Albuquerque Chapter of the Native Plant Society is presenting an Environmental Forum on "Public Access and Future Management of the Valles Caldera National Preserve." This will be held in the Sandia Room on the 2nd Floor of the New Mexico Museum of Natural History (1801 Mountain Road NW).

This is an important juncture in the management of the Valles Caldera. Please attend one or both events if you can! For more info, contact Patric Redmond, Central Group Chair, at predmond121@gmail.com.
