Lt. Gov. Denish and Rep. Teague to Host Town Halls on Stimulus Funds Wednesday in Los Lunas, Belen, Socorro

Lt. Governor Diane Denish and Congressman Harry Teague have announced they will join forces to increase rural communities’ knowledge of and access to funds provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The events are a continuation of Lt. Governor Denish’s . Both Congressman Harry Teague and Lt. Governor Denish have pledged to work for increased access to stimulus funds for small and rural communities. (See below the fold for details on Wednesday's events.)
“I know New Mexicans are hurting in these tough economic times,” said Lt. Governor Denish in a written statement. “These Town Hall meetings will offer practical advice and information about how best to compete for additional federal stimulus funds and I encourage everyone to attend.”
“I look forward to working with Lt. Governor Diane Denish to make sure that the state and federal governments are working together at every opportunity to help southern New Mexico’s small and rural communities access their fair share of recovery funds,” said Congressman Harry Teague.
The Rural Economic Recovery initiative will identify local and tribal governments, universities, and non-profit organizations interested in applying for grants on behalf of their communities and provide them information about grant opportunities, guidelines, and processes.
