Good News
I'm so relieved. Mary Ellen had a very successful surgical procedure today and is resting comfortably, as they say in way too many reports about people being hospitalized. It's still appropriate here though. She really IS resting comfortably and there's an excellent chance she'll get to come home tomorrow.
They didn't find anything truly bad, they didn't have to make a big incision and we're starting a fan club for laparoscopy. I mean it. Great stuff. She'll have to rest at home about two weeks instead of six, and the recovery looks smooth. She walked up and down the hospital hall a good distance this evening after her latest pain drip, and the nurse was very pleased. Thanks to all of you who sent positive messages and kept us in your thoughts today. So much was unknown, but now there are known knowns and they are all positive.
Now I'm gonna go over to the couch and try to rest comfortably myself. It was a very long day of waiting and worrying. Now the healing has begun.

Barb and Mary Ellen, glad everything went well. Surgery of any kind is a worry. Sounds like she will be up and about in no time. Glad it went so great for both of you. take care, talk to you soon, stephanie

Mary Ellen sends her thanks to all of you. She was in a lot of pain during the night and this morning, but walked the hall today for twice the distance she managed yesterday. Her docs say that should help the pain.
No decision yet on whether she can come home later today or tomorrow, mostly a function of the pain level and if it starts to lessen.

Hooray! I'm so glad to hear it! Everything I've heard is that it truly does take as long (if not longer) to heal as they say it does. Take it easy, Mary Ellen! And get better soon.

Great news! Keep the healing going forward. Sleeping at home is the best way.

I'm a long-time reader but first-time commenter. I also know MaryEllen a little bit (only just made the connection this week cuz of the Prop8 pics) and am so glad to hear the surgery went well.
Best wishes to you both...

I'm glad to hear it went well, and second what Sophie said. Don't rush the healing process! My thoughts are with you guys.
