Obama Names Adrian Saenz as NM Campaign Director

A press release today from the Obama campaign announced that Adrian Saenz, who was Obama's state director for the Texas primary and caucuses, will lead the New Mexico campaign. Saenz recently served as Chief of Staff for Rep. Ciro Rodriguez (D,TX-23) and was previously the Press Secretary for Rep. Charlie Gonzalez (D, TX-20).

Senator Bingaman bailed on FISA today. What a disappointment after his rhetoric yesterday on why it was not a good bill.

That's exactly why a Udall victory this Fall is really important, as it means NM will have one real Democratic U.S. Senator.

Or maybe I'm hyperbolizing and these Senate "Dems" have a spiffy, foolproof plan to block retroactive telecom immunity and put an end to "bulk collection"...somehow I doubt it.

Not a shining moment in Congressional history here. Now that I think about it, there hasn't been one decent shining moment in the entirety of the 110th Congress. Someone remind me, we got all excited about Election '06 because....why?

P.S.: Okay, I'll ask the naive, out-of-the-loop question. Why not a New Mexican for Obama NM Campaign Director?

P.P.S.: Not that it's a big deal to me or anything...I'm just wondering.

NM's political talent have been already taken by the Senate and Congressional campaigns

"NM's political talent have been already taken by the Senate and Congressional campaigns".
I think there is plenty of political talent in NM. They don't trust NM because they don't really understand NM. They think installing any Hispanic will passivate NM as a whole.

Maybe he's really good, the best around. But I do hope he takes on some help that truly knows the state and its ideosyncracies. As you say, NM's Hispanic population is unique. The national people almost always blow that.

I worked with Adrian during the Kerry campaign. He is an excellent choice for Obama. We are lucky to have him back in NM.
As for the NM talent question - they are taken by the Senate and congressional races. We need more folks trained in understanding the aspects of campaigns, so that next time they may hold this prominent job.

Adrian understands NM and has the expertise to do the job. He has worked in NM on several campaigns. Let's just work to get Obama elected and stop fussing about where Adrian comes from.

No way, I think he left Ciro's office because he is gonna lose his race and this guy didnt want to be blamed. New Mexico is doomed, we need a real new mexican running the show.
