Major Speech: Obama Addresses Race
Full prepared text of Barack Obama's major speech on issues of race given today in Constitution Center on Independence Mall in Philadelphia. The 37-minute video above captures the entire speech as given. I decided not to provide any excerpts because I think it's essential to take in the speech in its entirety, from start to finish, to experience its power and clarity. I kept thinking as I listened, imagine having a president talking in these terms, in this manner, for eight years, to all the people, persuasively and inclusively, as we take on the immense challenges and changes in motion in almost every area of human endeavor. Barack Obama wants to both eat his cake and have it. He wants voters to rise above race and religion, while appearing religious himself. He is in deep trouble if a spotlight is placed on his own THEOLOGY. See:

I think this speech effectively points out they we are at a crossroads. On the one hand there are those who continue to use race as a wedge to keep people from uniting against the real culprits. In my opinion the Clintons are certainly in this camp, apparently knowing no other way than to keep on wedging away to gain politically and direct attention away from the fact that so many of the damaging economic forces at work today were unleashed during the Clinton administration.
Then there are those, on the other hand, who believe the only way to effectively address economic class (and other) issues is to persuade citizens from all economic, racial and ethnic backgrounds to recognize that we are all more alike than we are different, and to rally folks to act accordingly against the agents of the status quo who are perpetrating the injustices.
This is what Obama means when he says we are the ones we have been looking for. If we don't unite by honoring but transcending racial and similar identifications, the negative forces aligned against the people will win.
We can't let the status quo, negative politics of both the right and those in our own party like the Clintons distract us from what's really going on in America and around the globe at this moment in time.

Will it be enough to sidetrack the Clinton and media forces bashing him? We can only hope. I still don't understand how Clinton thinks she can win the nomination other than bulldozing superdelegates and destroying Obama along with our chances in November.

Best part of the speech? When he said he is being accused of being both too black and not black enough.

There is no doubt in my mind now that Mr. Obama has the best qualities to unite and lead this country forward.
I am all in.
