Even More for Obama
Joan Baez endorsed Senator Obama today in the San Francisco Chronicle:
Editor - I have attempted throughout my life to give a voice to the voiceless, hope to the hopeless, encouragement to the discouraged, and options to the cynical and complacent. From Northern Ireland to Sarajevo to Latin America, I have sung and marched, engaged in civil disobedience, visited war zones, and broken bread with those who had little bread to break.
Through all those years, I chose not to engage in party politics. Though I was asked many times to endorse candidates at every level, I was never comfortable doing so. At this time, however, changing that posture feels like the responsible thing to do. If anyone can navigate the contaminated waters of Washington, lift up the poor, and appeal to the rich to share their wealth, it is Sen. Barack Obama. If anyone can bring light to the darkened corners of this nation and restore our positive influence in world affairs, it is Barack Obama. If anyone can begin the process of healing and bring unity to a country that has been divided for too long, it is Barack Obama. It is time to begin a new journey.

And in a real shocker, California First Lady Maria Shriver endorses Obama at today's outstanding and very moving rally at UCLA with Michelle Obama, Oprah, Caroline Kennedy and Stevie Wonder. I'm looking for video of this entire event, which was aired on C-SPAN. To my mind, it was one of the most moving and powerful sets of speeches I've ever witnessed for a political candidate.

I thought Hillary gave a great speech at Highland last night. Better than what Obama had to offer the day before. Seriously. And as I was not as impressed as I expected to be with his event, I was willing to give her a listen.
But I just found out from Michael Moore's website that the former members of the Grateful Dead are supporting Obama, and will play a benefit concert for him tomorrow in SF, would that I could be there, I sure miss those days. Moore and the Dead pretty much seal the deal. Obama it will be.

Obama's appearance was an economic forum, not a pep rally like Hillary's. I thought he was articulate, convincing and down to earth. Kinda funny that people are always complaining they want more discussion on issues and them don't like it when issues are discussed.
Anyone else find that photo op of Richardson and Bill Clinton in Santa Fe for the super bowl disgusting? Pandering pandering. Richardson should have been down in Albuquerque helping the state party staff and volunteers working so hard on the caucus. He's the one that wanted the caucus, costing the party $250,000 and countless hours of volunteer time.

Oh come on, Obama's event may have been titled an economic forum, but it was just as much of a pep rally as Hillary's. They talked about many of the same issues. Neither of them addressed the fact that our economic problems in large part stem from the fact that we spend half of our tax revenue on defense and the military.
Were you at the Clinton event? She talked about nothing but issues. Who was complaining about a discussion of issues? All I'm interested in are issues, I don't get where you are coming from, Precinct Chair.

There was an article in Huffpo today called "Clinton, Obama and Cluster Bombs.
Clinton voted against banning them.
Obama voted to ban them.
Cluster bombs kill civilians long after a conflict is past. They especially attract children. Cluster Bombs are an atrocity.
