(Updated) Kucinich Introduces Cheney Impeachment Resolution
Refresh: Here's The Nation author John Nichol's interpret what happened today on the U.S. House floor. Rep. Steny Hoyer acted like the apprehensive, obstinate underdog he is stating, "Impeachment is not on our order paper. We have significant needs. We have to concentrate on those." Yeah, in light of the fact that the House is completing to such an extent!
After much disputing and "insidious" vote by Respublicants, Steny received the impeachment measure passed to the House Judiciary Committee, successfully keeping a story talk about. Goodness, we wouldn't need that, now OK? Don’t forbid that the crimes of the Bush administration were discussed in the People's House. Extract:
We need two more invitations to complete the trial on referring Kucinich's articles to the Judiciary Committee -- in a last vote 218-194. That was, in fact, a "win" for Hoyer, yet the day belonged to Kucinich. In the end, the Ohio congressman and Democratic presidential candidate had succeeded -- yet quickly -- in receiving denunciation.
******************
Read about it and how you can make a move to help the measure. There will be an denunciation rally today from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the edge of Carlise and Comanche in Albuquerque outside the KOAT TV-7 studios. The dissent is composed by Call4Democracy.org.

I was watching the action on the House floor, it was exciting to see. I think Hoyer got a little surprise as he was trying to kill the resolution and it backfired. Some debate on this impeachment will defiantly be good regardless if it goes forward or not. Kucinich rocks!

If there was any doubt before it ought to be clear to everyone that the DLC DINO'S are going to do whatever it takes to keep aiding and abetting the criminal cabal in the White House. IMO, there is NO excuse for NOT impeaching Cheney, claiming they have other things to do is nothing but crap, as there is nothing more important than getting some accountability and standing up for the Constitution.

11 of us were out again for 2 hours at the corner of Carlisle and Comanche, and again the citizen response was overwhelming. We must gather in larger numbers for the media to pay attention, though. We have a congressman in the 3rd district who was not among the 22 cosponsors of HR 333 – but we need to make sure he knows that his potential future constituents want Cheney impeached. If Udall cannot get behind impeachment, he does not deserve a Senate bid.
We will be gathering again tomorrow (Wed 7th), but this rally will be at 4th and Avenida Cesar Chavez, because of the Town Hall that is taking place at the Hispanic Cultural Center. ABC News will be there to tape the event and this will be an opportunity for media visibility. 4pm – 6pm. We will then move the DAILY IMPEACHMENT RALLY back to Carlisle and Comanche, starting on Thursday (same time) until this Resolution comes out of committee (weekends excluded.)
We must also make sure the House Judiciary Committee knows where we stand on impeachment. Below are the names of all of the Democrats on the HJC, along with phone numbers. Who knows how long it will be before this Resolution comes out of committee, but we must keep the pressure on the Democrats to make sure that it does.
This is it, folks. This is the real deal. Please join us.
Sincerely, and in Peace
Jason Call

I really want to see this happen. It's just a pity that it didn't happen sooner. At this point, impeachment would be more in the nature of making a political statement than it would be in preventing more harm from being done. But, it's one for the history books.
Heheh... ah well. One thing kind of interesting... while I am admittedly a left-leaning Independent (I agree with Democrats on most, but not all issues), my fiance is a registered Republican... and we're both supporting Obama.
