Accountability Visit to Congresswoman Wilson’s Office Today

On Tuesday, January 9, grassroots organizations and individuals will ask Congresswoman Heather Wilson to stay true to the letter and spirit of her campaign promises by supporting four vital bills expected to move through the U.S. House of Representatives this week. Drop by and join in supporting this action.

Advocates for workers, low-income citizens, seniors, students, and religious groups will meet in the lobby of First Plaza in Downtown Albuquerque for a press conference at 2:00 PM and then will visit Rep. Wilson’s offices to ask Rep. Wilson to support the following four pieces of legislation:

Congresswoman Wilson ran as a moderate who favors an increase in the minimum wage, cares about prescription drug prices, supports more accessible higher education, and is independent of big oil and gas. She will have the chance to prove that her election promises and themes were more than rhetoric in the next week. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding.

Heather so often seems to be busy with other serious government work when groups come to her office with what people REALLY want. hmmm....

Wilson was on The News Hour on PBS speaking against sending more troops to Iraq.
Let us track her to see if her votes match her rhetoric.
The appearance of being moderate is not enough.

Heather may well be on her best behavior the next two years, she knows her vote and voice is mostly irrelevant so she might as well pander to the moderates so she has a better shot at getting Domenici's Senate seat in 08. Problem for her is that most of us won't be fooled by that and we will be watching her vote record.

BTW, she is off to a poor start, so far her voting record is along party lines. Apparently she still doesn't "get it" that she barely won reelection and her party lost their majority. Simply put, because the American people are calling for change on everything from Iraq to congressional ethics.

I'll give Wilson credit, she did vote in favor of the minimum wage increase. BTW, the vote was 315 for 116 against.
