This is a perfect example of what is wrong with this country.

We are being asked to vote for Patricia Madrid to replace the criminal Heather Wilson, and towards that end Patricia Madrid teams up with Madeleine Albright to discuss taking National Security in a new direction, as if to convince us by virtue of association that she will be tough when she gets to Washington.

Madeleine Albright was complicit along with Bill Clinton in perpetrating one of the greatest mass murders of the 20th century.

"Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: 'We have heard that a half million children have died. I
mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?'

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: 'I think this is a very hard choice, but the price--we think the
price is worth it.'"

-- 60 Minutes (5/12/96)

Bill Clinton and Madeleine Albright make George Bush look like a kindergarten bully, yet we admire them and praise them and hold discussions with them in order to impress the voting public with our toughness and our resolve.

Patricia Madrid:

How can you ally herself with someone who can casually sanction the starvation-murder of more than a half million innocent men, women and children in the name of so-called American security?

This is not the kind of change we need. I now see clearly that you offer more of the same that we have had for the past 6 years. I am very disappointed in you.

While I certainly don't agree with Albright all of the time, I think we have to look at the big picture and also realize that those who deal in foreign policy often have a choice between only unpleasant choices.

I, for one, would much rather have someone like Albright involved in our foreign policy because she always would choose diplomacy over unlateral military action. This election comes down to a choice between raving rightwing war mongers who want to destroy the UN, treaties and international diplomacy in favor of all war all the time and people who are just the opposite -- Democrats.

I would like to see our entire culture turn away from military solutions and imperialistic actions but not even one iota of progress will be made toward that if we keep the current bunch in power. Condi Rice has an oil tanker named for her. Think about it.
