I voted early today and I saw many dedicated volunteers who were outnumbered by the MANY people waiting patiently for their turn to vote. I did see a few people leave because they did could not wait. It made me think ahead to election day.
How does one volunteer to work at the polling places on elecion day? I fear that the polling sites may not be able to handle the large numbers of new voters who have registered for this election.
I would be willing to take the day off from work on Election Day in order to volunteer at a polling place. No voter should be turned away on 11/2. Please let me know if I can help at the a polling site on election day.
Sincerely,
Vilma Ruiz

Hi Vilma, good to see you here, excited about voting and making sure everyone gets a chance to do so! Bernalillo County pays poll workers. Here's the information:
The County Clerk is looking for poll workers. Poll officials are paid a one-time fee and are required to attend a mandatory training class and report to their designated polling place by 6 am on Election Day.
Election Judges and Clerks are paid $125.00
Presiding Judges are paid $150.00
Call the County Clerk's office. 768-4090
Also, the Democratic Party is looking for poll watchers and challengers to assure that the laws are followed at all polling places. Contact information:
DPNM needs your help. We need Democrats willing to volunteer for pre-election, Election Day, and post-Election Day activities. In each county, the County Chair will be appointing poll watchers and challengers.
If you are interested in volunteering for this important project, please reply by email to: Jim@NMVictory2004.com using the words “VOTER PROTECTION PROGRAM NM” in the subject line. Let’s rally New Mexico to vote for Democrats.
